Pilates is a wonderful practice which builds core stability, which is particularly beneficial in preventing and/or treating back injuries.
I offer led classes in STOTT PILATES – a contemporary approach to the original Pilates method based on modern principles of exercise science and rehabilitation, making it one of the safest and effective methods available.
Classes focus on five basic principles: breathing, pelvic placement, rib cage placement, movement/stabilisation of the shoulders, and head/neck placement.
The benefits of Pilates include:
- Longer, leaner muscles
- Increased freedom of movement)
- Improved posture
- Increased core strength, stability and peripheral mobility
- Prevention of injuries
- No-impact, easy on the joints
- Improves balance, coordination & circulation
I recently completed an eight-day intensive training course in STOTT PILATES, and continue to have one-to-one sessions with my tutor to further develop my teaching practice (qualified instructors have to commit to a programme of continuing professional development to keep up to date with the latest training methods).
